San Diego Destination Beach Wedding at Bahia

San Diego is one of the top cities to host your intimate or full-size destination wedding. From beautiful beaches, cliffs to original venues, and rooftops with spectacular views. Barbie & Jeff were one of my destination couples. They arrived from Sacramento to have a beach wedding with a reception following on a boat. Unfortunately, Covid complicated their plans and they had to move their reception to the beach.

My clients always ask me for a referral where to host their rehearsal dinner. San Diego has a lot of unique rehearsal dinner places which I’ll dive into in different blog posts. But due to Covid, the majority of restaurants were closed. My number one recommendation to Jeff & Barbie was to have a bonfire. I recommend the San Diego Beach Fire Guy and they couldn’t be happier. San Diego Beach Fire Guy will set up fire pits, chairs, coolers, wood & prep it so you can just order pizza or order catering, light the fire, and start celebrating.

Alright, let’s dive into the wedding day. Barbie and Jeff’s wedding was held at Bahia hotel and resort in mission bay. Wedding day always starts with getting ready. Andrea from Unique and Flawless was Barbie’s makeup artist and she did an excellent job! Bahia has so many cute little areas to take pictures of. Berlynn from Berlynn Photography chose the tropical oasis by a pond.

Bahia has a beautiful private beach on mission bay. Having a wedding on a private beach in San Diego gives you an intimate beach ceremony. I planned a lot of beach weddings and public beaches can get a little crowded but I will talk about this topic at different times.

A tropical wedding ceremony setup is a great fit for a beach wedding ceremony. You can never go wrong with covering an arch with big palm leaves, birds of paradise, and other tropical flowers. Let’s take a moment and look at the beautiful wreaths Barbie made from seashells and the sign.
